Fontainhas Water Treatment Plant

The Fontainhas Water Treatment Plant is supplied by water from the Bravura lagoon and has a capacity of 29,000 m3/day. Covering especially the counties of Lagos and Vila do Bispo, it supplies approximately 52,000 inhabitants.
The Fontainhas Water Treatment Plant, an infrastructure that forms a part of the Algarve multi-municipal water supply system, is located in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande, county of Portimão. It has a water treatment capacity of approximately 26,000 m3/day (300l/s) and together with the Alcantarilha Water Treatment Plant supplies water to the municipalities of Lagos, Vila do Bispo and Portimão. The water treated at the Fontainhas Water Treatment Plant comes from the Bravura dam through the irrigation channel and is used by the Alvor Association of Irrigators and Beneficiaries.
